Learn to dye silk and cotton fabrics with rust. Make BEAUTIFUL patterns, textures, and impressions with this simple but fascinating technique. All materials provided: you will make and take home your own fat quarter of cotton fabric and a silk scarf. Rust dyeing also doubles as a mordanting technique to use with other types of natural dyes, so it's a wonderful tool to have in your natural dyeing toolbelt. Weavers and knitters, this technique also works beautifully with sari silk fabric yarns, I will try to have some of those on hand available for purchase if you'd like extra items to dye.
Materials needed: Students need not bring supplies, but should wear old clothes they do not mind getting stained.
