Knitting Essentials Saturday 1 PM
Saturday 1:00 PM, 3 Hours
Class Fee: $30
Class Capacity: 10
Students Bring: Pencil, scissors, stitch markers. Wound sport or DK weight, light colored wool, darning needle, blank 3x5 cards. Circular US Size 6 or 7 needles.
Why does a pattern use a specific increase or decrease? Is there a better choice? Will this stitch work for my fiber? Informed choice of stitches is fundamental to creating a well-knit garment.
This class is designed to move a new knitter from "performing" a stitch to "understanding how a stitch will look and perform". This is a workbook-based class exploring increases and decreases, organized by appearance and function. Swatches will be knit for comparison. Through a hands-on experience, the student will be introduced to pattern construction theory and gain confidence in stitch substitution.
Students receive a workbook, "Knitting Essentials", developed from experience teaching in a LYS. The class is taught in a workbook format so students can relax and not worry about taking detailed notes.
